We’ve updated our repeating programme – we’ll still aim for a screening on the 3rd Saturday every month for our adult film programme. Now, every 2nd month will feature a new film as close to it’s general release date as we can manage so we can offer films with maximum appeal. On the other months, we aim to screen older but classic films  (in our humble opinions!) to suit different audiences in the community. Your suggestions are always welcome.

We also hope to run screenings in different venues across Forres (and the wider area) once we have our mobile projection kit up and running.

The 1st and 3rd Friday every month for kid’s shows (except for the summer holidays) continue. As ever, we’re open to special showings for local groups by arrangement.

…here’s our programme for the year ahead
now being updated to fit in the plans above

…plus a list of this season’s past screenings

We had intended to set up a summer programme for families, offering a weekly afternoon showing mid-week. We’d hoped this might provide parents with something to engage them and their kids (and any visiting families) leaving weekends free for enjoying the usual summer stuff.

Owing to time constraints we weren’t able to put this in place this year. We decided we need to expand our group of volunteers so, if anyone is interested in helping, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re including the summer programme in our planning for next year, so if its of interest, please get in touch. We’ve still time to adjust the way it works to suit people’s needs.

We usually need a few people to take care of the door, issue/check memberships, collect entry donations, and put out and clear away the seating. We’re also keen to have help with projection and will offer the necessary training. We often have a couple of people on the projection team so there’s always assistance at hand!

Next up is The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. It’s a must-see for lots of reasons – it won an oscar for costume design as well as 9 other awards including a BAFTA awards plus 18 nominations; more than that, we wanted to offer a movie that embraces difference and the outrageous (in the nicest possible way).  The film has had great reviews, scores 7.4 stars on IMDB and is a lot of fun. It’s a road movie too.

Men in feathers, what’s not to like? Cross-dressing? Well, it’s good enough for Eddie Izzard, though I have trouble with tights and my hairy legs! Terence Stamp is magnificently transgender; the costumes are amazing; and Hugo Weaving is as far from Elrond as it’s possible to get – or is it?.

So come along to this one. If only for the spectacle. It’ll be a great night and you don’t have to dress up!

“Those who find men in feathers inherently divine will have a high old time here, and there are enough hilarious cinematic moments for the gob-smacked rest.”

Angie Errigo

– if you’re going to a performance of Priscilla Queen of the Desert – The Musical -at Eden Court in Inverness (18th -26th November – see Eden Court website for details), why not take in the movie first?

*a note on tickets for 2019-2020 —

We’ve currently dispensed with ticketed entry for now. We found that most folk prefer to arrive on the night and just pay on the door. Having tickets for sale in advance would only be needed, we thought, when we could predict a big audience. Bohemian Rhapsody was a very special night and extremely well-attended. Normally, we reckon on a smaller audience that we can easily accommodate.

After our opening screenings earlier in the year, we’ve decided to set the entry price at £5. It works for us and for everyone else, we hope.
